iGeo

The International Geography Olympiad (iGeo) is an annual competition for the best 16 to 19 year old geography students from all over the world. Students chosen to represent their countries are the very best, chosen from thousands of students who participate enthusiastically in their own National Geography Olympiads.

Participant Criterias

Students participating in IGEO must be the representatives from the national team that already qualified in the national competition. The following criterias for the students:

Competition Programme

The iGeo consists of three parts: a written test, a multimedia test and substantial fieldwork requiring observation, leading to cartographic representation and geographical analysis. The programme also includes poster presentations by teams, cultural exchanges, and time for students to get to know their fellow students and explore the host city.

Indonesian Stats in iGeo Participations

40 Medals

Indonesia already achieved 40 medals, that includes 8 gold, 14 silver, and 18 bronze from 12 years in the history of iGeo participations (2012-2024). That is 3.33 medals for every iGeo competition in average!

2 Best Poster and Presentation

Indonesia won 2 times of Best Poster and Presentation category, both in 2012 and 2022.

2 Overall Champion

Indonesia won its Overall Champion title with the highest total score in 2019 and 2024.

Throughout the 12 years of participations, Indonesia already sent 43 distinguished delegates in total to participated in the iGeo.
